Hitachi Expects to Manufacture Hard Drives of 5 TB by 2010


Hitachi expects to offer a hard drive with five terabytes of storage for 2010, the company told the Nikkei BP, Japan. While the most recent investigations are approaching a terabit per inch, Hitachi said that its technology CPP-GMR (Current Perpendicular to the Plane Giant Magnetoresistance) has improved to such an extent that the company can put 1TB per inch in two years to create a hard drive 5TB on a hard drive desktop 3.5 inches.
